Supplies for the Beginning of the Year
cleaning rod, lint-free cloth handkerchief
OBOE*
cleaning swab, cork grease, soft cloth, small water container, reeds (consult private instructor as to brand and thickness)
BASSOON*
cleaning swab, cork grease, soft cloth, small water container, reeds (consult private instructor as to brand and thickness)
CLARINET/BASS CLARINET*
cleaning swab, cork grease, soft cloth, reed case for 4 reeds, Vandoren or Mitchell Lurie reeds (thickness: 6th gr.-#2 1/2)
SAXOPHONE*
cleaning swab, cork grease, soft cloth, neck strap, reed case for 4 reeds, Vandoren or Hempke reeds (thickness: 6th gr.-#2 1/2)
TRUMPET
valve oil, tuning slide grease, cleaning snake, mouthpiece brush, mutes as needed
HORN
rotor valve oil, tuning slide grease, cleaning snake, mouthpiece brush
TROMBONE
slide cream, spray bottle, cleaning snake, mouthpiece brush- no oil please
BARITONE/TUBA
valve oil, tuning slide grease, mouthpiece brush
PERCUSSION
6th: practice pad, practice bells or xylophone, Vic Firth SD 1's snare sticks, bell mallets, stick/mallet bag
7th/8th: medium yarn mallets, medium timpani mallets
* Please note that instruments with reeds should have at least 3 WORKING reeds at all times. For clarinets and saxophones, it is cheaper to buy a box of them then to buy individual reeds.
